The MSCI ESG Rating is a global assessment index for ESG investment that analyzes a company's environmental, social and governance initiatives and assigns a seven-level rating from the highest AAA to the lowest CCC. We received the highest rating of AAA in 2024.
The ESG Finance Awards Japan is an awards system established by the Ministry of the Environment with the aim of evaluating and honoring financial institutions and organizations that are actively engaged in ESG finance and companies that are committed to Sustainable management, and sharing the results of these efforts widely with society at large.
At the 5th ESG Finance Awards Japan, we were selected in the "Environmentally Sustainable Company Division," which recognizes companies that meet certain standards for the completeness of their disclosure of important environmental issues. We were also selected as a "Company with Progress in Environmental Disclosure," which recognizes companies that have improved their disclosure content to make it easier to understand and are expected to further develop.
The "Nadeshiko Brand" was established in 2012 by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry in collaboration with the Tokyo Stock Exchange to select and announce listed companies that excel in promoting women's participation in the workforce. The aim is to promote investment value in companies and accelerate corporate initiatives by introducing listed companies that excel in promoting women's participation in the workforce as attractive companies to investors who place importance on "improving corporate value in the medium to long term."
This is the 10th consecutive year that the company has been selected for the award since its inception in fiscal 2012. Going forward, we will continue to build a solid "female leadership pipeline" and actively support the further advancement of women.
The "L-Star" is awarded by the Minister of Health, Labour and Welfare to companies that have formulated and submitted a general employer action plan based on the Act on Promotion of Women's Participation and Advancement in the Workplace and have demonstrated excellence in their efforts to promote women's participation in the workforce. The implementation status of these efforts is evaluated based on five criteria (1) recruitment, 2) continued employment, 3) working style including working hours, 4) ratio of managers, and 5) diverse career paths. In December 2022, our company was certified at the third level, the highest level, of the "L-Star" award.
Our LGBTQ policies have been recognized by work with Pride (wwP), a voluntary organization that supports the promotion and establishment of diversity management for sexual minorities such as LGBTQ, and we have been awarded "Gold" in the PRIDE Index for the seventh consecutive year (FY2017 to FY2023). (In 2016, we received "Silver" in the PRIDE Index.)
The "100 Prime" program selects companies that are working on "Diversity 2.0" to step up their efforts to continue creating corporate value in the medium to long term, based on the "Diversity 2.0 Action Guidelines" compiled by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry in March 2017. Since its launch in fiscal year 2017, two companies have been selected each year, with our company and Tokyu Railways being selected in fiscal year 2019.
By incorporating diverse perspectives into our services and products, we hope to promote innovation in lifestyles and work styles and continue to be the "railway of choice" for our customers. Going forward, we will continue to further promote diversity management that allows diverse human resources to thrive.
The Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry and the Tokyo Stock Exchange jointly select companies that consider and strategically address employee health management from a management perspective as "Health and Productivity Management Brands." This initiative is part of the efforts to "extend the healthy life expectancy of the nation," which is positioned in the Japan Revitalization Strategy.
Our company has been selected for the seventh consecutive year since 2015 in recognition of the fact that our top management has clearly documented and promoted employee health through our philosophy and management policies, as well as our mental health checkup initiatives and employee-oriented measures centered around our company-run hospital.
The Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) is a system that recognizes large and small companies that are practicing particularly excellent health management, based on initiatives that address local health issues and health promotion initiatives promoted by the Japan Health Conference. By making outstanding companies that are working on health management visible, the program aims to create an environment in which they can be socially recognized by employees, job seekers, related companies, financial institutions, and others as "corporations that consider employee health management from a management perspective and work on it strategically."
In 2024, 2,288 corporations in the large corporation category were certified as "Health and Productivity Management Excellent Corporations 2024" (of which 500 corporations, including our company, are "White 500").
Since 2014, the Tokyo Metropolitan Government has been awarding companies that are taking excellent measures to enable employees to balance treatment and work. By widely publicizing these efforts throughout society and companies, the government is promoting the balance between treatment and work for employees with cancer or other illnesses.
In 2016, we received the Encouragement Award at the Awards for Companies Taking Excellent Initiatives to Help Cancer Patients Balance Their Work and Treatment.
In fiscal 2019, the Smooth Biz Promotion Grand Prize and Smooth Biz Promotion Award were established with the aim of further popularizing and promoting Smooth Biz to Tokyo residents and fostering social momentum.
Our company was awarded the Smooth Biz Promotion Award as a company or organization that has taken ambitious and cutting-edge initiatives.
The Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare established the Shining Telework Award in 2015 to further promote and disseminate telework.
In 2019, the company received the Special Encouragement Award from the Minister of Health, Labour and Welfare for its exemplary efforts in introducing teleworking, including the ingenuity and innovation it has implemented.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications established the "Top 100 Telework Pioneers" program in 2015 to further promote the spread of telework.
In 2016, 53 organizations were named "Telework Pioneers," and among them, companies that were particularly proactive in terms of the frequency, scale, and implementation rate of teleworking were selected as "Top 100 Telework Pioneers."
"DX Certified Businesses" are businesses that are certified by the government as complying with the basic requirements of the "Digital Governance Code" based on the Act on Promotion of Information Processing, and our company was certified in June 2023. With a view to obtaining the "DX Brand" designation, which recognizes companies with superior track records, we will promote transformation (DX) not only in business efficiency and process improvements, but also in services, business models, and corporate culture and climate, with the aim of urban and community development using digital technology.
