Our company founder, Keita Goto, once said, "The dividing line between a person's success and failure is, first, health. Next, passion and sincerity. If you have physical strength, passion and sincerity, you will surely succeed." This idea that health is essential has been passed down as one of our company's values since the company was founded.

Health Declaration and Health Management Promotion System

Inheriting this DNA, in 2016, Tokyu Group established the Health Declaration in order to promote management that pursues "health," which is essential to realizing the Group's Mission Statement, "to create beautiful living environments, in which each person can pursue individual happiness in a harmonious society." In the Health Declaration, we position health promotion as added value not only for our employees and their families, but also for our customers, and as something that leads to social contribution and the development of local vitality.

Health Promotion Initiatives

To promote the health of employees, we are encouraging them to make walking a habit. Head office staff are encouraged to wear comfortable shoes, be light on their feet, and walk one station or climb stairs to turn the work environment into an exercise environment through "Walk Biz," and we also hold walking competitions. In addition, Human Resources Division and Tokyu Hospital work together to promote cancer prevention through regular checkups and medical examinations, as well as measures and examinations for stomach cancer, breast cancer, etc. In addition, to prevent lifestyle-related diseases among young employees, we have begun an initiative focusing on metabolic syndrome and those at risk of metabolic syndrome, who are not subject to specific health guidance, and are taking measures against lifestyle-related diseases at an early stage.

Furthermore, we hold a "Safety and Health Committee" every month, which consists of industrial physicians, health managers, full-time safety and health managers, labor union representatives, etc., and provide a forum for sharing and discussing topics related to occupational safety and health and health management. In addition, we hold a "Central Safety and Health Committee" once a year, which consists of executive officer in charge of safety and health and the chairman of the labor union, and we also share and announce excellent health management measures of our company and consolidated companies, and we are working to award excellent initiatives.

In recent years, we have set specific target indicators for health management (smoker rate of 22% or less, obesity rate of 35% or less, and exercise habit rate of 50% or more as of the end of fiscal year 2023) and are promoting various health management measures. We are also focusing on measures to combat presenteeism (a decrease in labor productivity due to minor deterioration in health), and as part of efforts to improve oral hygiene, we have begun identifying the risks of periodontal disease and bad breath, and using sleep diagnosis apps to understand the quality of one's own sleep, thereby working to improve health and labor productivity.

These efforts have been recognized, and the company has been selected as a "Health and Productivity Management Brand" by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry and the Tokyo Stock Exchange for the seventh consecutive year, as well as being recognized as one of the "White 500 Health and Productivity Management Corporations" by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry.

In our "Health Declaration" established in 2016, we proclaim that "Our company's raison d'être is to create a better living environment for people living the areas served by Tokyu’s railway lines. By providing "health promotion" as added value, we will enrich our customers' living environments." Based on this philosophy, we provide products and services that deliver "health promotion" to our customers.

Tokyu Store's environmentally and health-friendly products

Tokyu Store has been creating a corner for environmentally friendly products in the practical goods sections of 10 stores since March 2021. The concept is to create a corner for "detergents made primarily from natural materials," and it has gathered and developed products across categories, from laundry detergents to hand soaps. By focusing on natural materials, it offers products that are not only environmentally friendly, but also kind to customers' bodies. In addition, even in other stores with limited space, it is strengthening the handling of products that are made from natural materials and are additive-free and color-free in each category. In the future, it will introduce disposable chopsticks (made from thinning wood), straws (made from paper), wraps containing biomass, and other consumables for outings, and will expand its product lineup to include natural materials, additives, and color-free products.

Healthy food at home, a service that helps you manage your health: Tokyu Bell

Tokyu Bell is a home convenience business operated by our company. We provide services to make the "inside the home" of our customers along the line more convenient and comfortable, such as delivery of food and daily necessities, house cleaning, and housekeeping services. One of the services on the menu is home delivery of health-management meals. In cooperation with Medical Food Service Co., Ltd., we deliver healthy, delicious, and easy meals to everyone from health-conscious people to seniors with illnesses, helping customers maintain their health.

This service provides professional menus created by registered dietitians based on the "Nutritional Guidelines for Home Delivery Foods for Dietary Therapy," with a focus on nutrition and safety. The meals are easy to prepare by simply heating them in the microwave, and four meals are delivered once a week, eliminating the hassle of dietary management as much as possible. With a unique cooking system called the MFS chilled method, freshly prepared meals are delivered at a refrigerated temperature of below 10°C, allowing customers to enjoy the original flavor and texture of the ingredients that cannot be experienced with frozen meals, and a delicious taste that they will never tire of, even if they eat it every day. Customers can also choose from a variety of meal menus, such as "balanced health meals" and "calorie-restricted meals," to suit their health themes and individual preferences.

"Health Promotion" brought to you by Tokyu Sports System. Live a happy life through sports!

Tokyu Sports System operates five businesses: fitness, swimming, football, golf, and tennis, with the corporate philosophy of "We make people's lives happier through sports." As part of Tokyu Group 's goal of creating urban and community development that enrich daily life, the company aims to contribute to the SDGs not only by providing opportunities for people of all ages and genders to "play sports," but also through "watching sports" and "supporting sports."

In particular, our fitness business has been very well received for events offering a variety of outdoor programs such as yoga and pilates, and for programs such as the Family Passport for parents of children attending school, which are programs that even people who are not used to exercising can easily participate in. We also receive requests from many companies for on-site measurement sessions at their offices using body composition scales, and we are working to promote health promotion and convey the appeal of sports to people both inside and outside the group.

In addition, in the football business, the soccer team "Tokyu S Reyes," which belongs to the Kanagawa Prefecture Adult Soccer League, has become a hub for the local community, and is challenging itself to "build a vibrant town" by building connections with families and neighbors through "building the health of" local residents and "developing the physical and mental health" of children who will lead the future.

Tokyu Hospital is a corporate hospital that was opened in 1953 to promote the health of Tokyu Group employees and their families, as well as local residents. In 2007, it was renovated and reopened above Ookayama Station on the Oimachi Line and Meguro Line as Japan's first station hospital, and by taking advantage of its high convenience and comprehensive capabilities with many medical departments, it provides medical care and helps promote the health of group employees and local residents.

Aiming to become a regional medical hub

Tokyu Hospital is strengthening cooperation with local private practice doctors and advanced functional hospitals such as university hospitals so that patients can receive the most appropriate treatment for their condition, and aims to become a "hub of local medical care." In addition, in anticipation of the rapid aging of the population in the future, in 2019, we started "home visit medical care" where doctors regularly visit the homes of patients who have difficulty visiting the hospital on their own, and have since added various home visit services such as rehabilitation. Furthermore, as part of preventive medicine, which is important for improving well-being and extending healthy lifespan, we are enhancing our medical checkups, which lead to the prevention and early detection of diseases. Through these efforts, we will meet the medical needs of the local community and bring health and peace of mind to the people.

Protecting the health of employees as a company-run hospital

Tokyu Hospital also serves as one of the few "corporate hospitals" in the country. Tokyu Group is engaged in many businesses that support the infrastructure of daily life, including transportation and retail. As a corporate hospital, it is our duty to protect the health of employees working in these businesses and provide stable services to everyone along the lines. To fulfill this role, Tokyu Hospital is committed to further promoting health management and provides health checkups and cancer screenings for group employees. In addition, with the spread of COVID-19 since 2020, we were among the first to vaccinate more than 20,000 group company employees and their families, driven by our sense of mission to protect the infrastructure of daily life. As the importance of health management increases, we will continue to support the health of our employees in a wide range of areas.

Contribution to the field of well-being

Medical knowledge is essential for business and initiatives in the well-being field, which will be important in responding to the aging of society in the future. Taking advantage of the strength of having a company-run hospital, we will work proactively with the business division to contribute to improving the well-being of residents along our railway lines.
