In accordance with the Construction Recycling Law, we are obliged to sort, dismantle, and recycle the materials used in our construction projects. We promote recycling even for construction projects not covered by this law.
In addition to minimizing the amount of waste generated in each of our businesses, we are working with construction companies to thoroughly separate and recycle construction waste from railroad and real estate projects.
The CFC Emissions Control Law came into effect in April 2015. As a result, simple inspections for “all commercial air conditioners and refrigeration units” and periodic inspections for “commercial air conditioners and refrigeration units above a certain scale” are now mandatory.
We are also taking appropriate measures based on the purpose of the revised law.
In FY 2021, no report on the results of soil contamination surveys was required by the relevant laws, regulations, and ordinances. In consideration of the possibility of contamination, we conduct soil analysis as necessary to confirm soil safety.
Tokyu Railways conducted a survey on the use of asbestos in 2005 and confirmed its safe use. Additionally, asbestos-containing products are used as heat insulators in some trains, but there is no risk of the asbestos being released. When dismantling vehicles, we take measures to prevent the dispersal of the insulation material and remove and dispose of it properly.
Under this system, which was first applied in April 2007, all of our business sites that generate industrial waste have been notified of their compliance duties.
There were no environment-related lawsuits in FY 2022.
