Participation in the United Nations Global Compact

In April 2019, we became the first corporate group, including a railway business, to sign the United Nations Global Compact, a global initiative advocated by the United Nations. We support the 10 principles consisting of the four areas of "human rights, labor, the environment, and anti-corruption," and will continue to promote further sustainability efforts.

The Global Compact Network Japan (GCNJ) has theme-specific subcommittees aimed at promoting CSR activities among participating companies, and we participate in the following subcommittees:

■Supply Chain Subcommittee, Environmental Management Subcommittee, Human Rights Development Subcommittee, Human Rights Education Subcommittee, Corruption Prevention Subcommittee, Disaster Prevention and Reduction (DRR) Subcommittee, SDGs Subcommittee, ESG Subcommittee, WEPs Subcommittee, Reporting Subcommittee, Circular Economy Subcommittee

Each subcommittee participates in lectures and workshops by experts to share the latest CSR-related trends and case studies from each company, while also working to produce a variety of outputs based on the experience of each participating company in a wide range of industries.
